Example of teeny letter carving

As promised, the following link shows an example of teeny letter
carving. The images are for a Carving Consortium Pokemon swap (but I
might end up placing them in boxes after the snow clears!).

Wow!!! Those carvings are amazing!!! How did you transfer the card design
onto the speedball carving stuff to carve it?

I used the nail polish remover transfer method: I printed the black-
and-white image using my laser printer (ink jet will not work, but
toner-based copier will), laid the image face down on the pink stuff,
and held it secure with tape at the edges. I then rubbed nail polish
remover on a cotton ball all over the back of the paper. You can see
the image transfer through the paper -- it leaves a wonderfully dark
impression which makes it very easy to carve.

Ruthann,

I just wanted to say thanks for the advice on transfering designs. I
just carved a stamp that I would have thought was well beyond my
capabilities using your transfer method. Though I enjoy doing mine
freehand I definitely will have to do more this way. (Look for my
swallowtail butterfly in the Metamorphosis series).
